• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

Jim, those are nice shots, and the more I look at that guitar....I need to go take an ice cold shower.

Joe rocked the sh*t out of Sandy tonight in Red Bank... Wow what tone that guitar has... When he played it for the encore and did all those different jams in Just Got Paid, it really showed the guitar's dynamics. He used it earlier as well, but it was in the encore that it really shined.

He went from hard rock to almost metal when he started messing around with the Whitesnake riffs, then into Beck... The Rhythm pickup on that guitar is unreal sounding. I don't think I ever heard anything like it. Even 20 rows out you could see the top’s 3D quality and it has a nice shine to it...Very impressive probably the best guitar tone I have ever heard in 30 years of shows and playing live. He hit an open E Chord and it growled literally… Never heard anything like that…

Forget it when he went into Dazed and Confused on the Neck Pickup …Off the charts tone…

Out of all of the other guitars used tonight, the other one whose tone stood out, believe it or not, was the Rossington. I believe that it was the Rossington. The back was missing a lot of paint in that custom shop kind of way. Couldn't make out the top too well (unlike Sandy). But he used it on Sloe Gin and the guitar just explodes in overtones and sustain... It literally shook the entire place at the end of the song. Pretty sure it was the Rossington. I remember being very impressed with in on the BCC LIVE DVD as well…

The coolest thing about this, is Joe gets to play all these killer bursts through his own rig... That would really help one get a good perspective on each of these bursts... It's a pretty incredible opportunity... I'm also impressed with the generosity of the owners --particularly TW for letting Sandy out of his sight, no matter who is playing her :salude

Thanks Joe it was a great show... I couldn't see the top on that particular guitar so good.. but I heard it plenty...

Just out of curiosity when do you use the Wreck? I thought I heard a couple of solos that just sounded a little "different".

Thanks

there is a video on youtube showing Joe with Gladys playing one or two short licks and even though having bad speakers that sound simply blew me away. That was the nastiest, best sound i ever heard from a Les Paul. I wonder which amp that was played through. It was during a sound check and Joe seemed to be quite impressed as well.

There is a sound on youtube which almost reaches that heights and that is Eric Johnson playing Zap on a Les Paul and it growels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-eket-81y0

Thank you Joe! This has meant a lot to me also. And as I had hoped there are now plenty of killer "Sandy in action" photos.

Just leave a few good notes in her for me please. :salude

[and in case you haven't figured it out, she sounds great because I played most of the bad notes out of her :ganz :hee ]

I would agree that the Skinner burst shook the walls last night at the Count Basie. Sandy was however my favorite there last night. I just happen to be into zebra's right now. With all of that old wood who could choose.

I too thought Sandy sounded incredible. However, I also think Principle Skinner also sounds great. That's what I love about these things, they all seem to have their own voices. I thought the 5 speed kicked ass as well.:jim

The 5 speed has a little more jangle. Which I love. If memory serves me he played Dust Bowl with it and it just kicked. I was really pumped to be there.

Can't say I wasn't thrilled and excited when Mike told me Sandy was along for the tour, and to get a few moments up close and personal with her. Wow, she's everything we've heard she was, and more. A killer Burst. Here's Joe showing her a good time in Evansville on the 7th.

What a great thing it is to have so many great guitars seen and heard! Joe is doing the guitar community such a great service and hopefully there are young folks out there that get the importance of these instruments.

Thanks Joe for keeping the flame burning for everyone! I'm sure it is a thrill to sample so many great guitars and building friendships, AND to play these at volume in front of an audience must be such a heady experience to say the least. Do you just crumple when you get back to your hotel after a night like Nashville?

Incredible! To Tom,CD, Slub, and others I extend my heartfelt thanks for letting us all have a glimpse of the greatest electric guitars ever made.
