• THIS IS THE 25th ANNIVERSARY YEAR FOR THE LES PAUL FORUM! PLEASE CELEBRATE WITH US AND SUPPORT US WITH A DONATION TO KEEP US GOING! We've made a large financial investment to convert the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and now have to move to a new host. We also have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!
  • WE ARE MOVING THE LES PAUL FORUM TO A NEW HOSTING PROVIDER OVER THE NEXT 5-10 DAYS. We will experience downtime during that period. Please be patient and have confidence that we will return! Many thanks, Mike Slubowski, Admin

People who know what a "reissue" is or a "historic" is may react negatively as I .

I won't even look at them because they are pulling the wool over the eyes of those that do not know enough about historical accuracy. And taking their big dollars...theses are too expensive. No two ways about it. Its a corporate gouge.

For those that don't care...its no loss.

There is no need to put the numbers 7 8 or 9 after the CS because it is a Franken Paul....If it one would consider it to be an evolution of that design then label it so. And see if it does take off. To me they are just supped up Trads....(and Trads are excellent guitars) weight relieved or not.

Will they sell? I can't forsee the future, But I don't see one in mine.

I know it's early, but have I missed the "NGD" threads on these yet?

Now there's a good question for the Moderators! Is a CS NGD posting allowed here? These are Historics. Although the heading says Gibson Custom/Historic we all know the CS's are not historics. Should they be relegated to the Sunburst Lounge?

:hmm Gibson Custom removed the "short" in their litterature, now it says : Expanded Neck Tenon instead of Expanded, Short Neck Tenon :hmm

I started this thread because Wildwood doesn't appear to have sold one yet.

I am not finding fault but rather asking if the CS info will ultimately be posted in this forum. Just another interesting side trip on this thread! It seems to be one of the better ones of late with many excellent points.

The title of this room is "Gibson Custom/Historic Les Paul District" so I'm assuming the CS models would fall in the Custom Shop realm.

I don`t understand the step Gibson made. In my opinion Gibson is a guitar manufacturer. And I buy a guitar to play them. Not to hang them on the wall or see them as a lifestyle product etc.
Guitarplaying is part of my lifestyle.
The Class 5 was the step between the Standard USA line and the Reissue line. It was good and the prices/price-differences reasonable.
In the past two years the prices already had reached a high level. But now? If someone wants a LP Std 2015 he has to pay 3 grands here in germany. The TH and CS0-9 haven`t reached europe yet.
They should have left the line as it was and create something like a (Murphy) aged/non aged 10-Top Line for the collectors. I like Gibson guitars, but they should be reachable/payable for players.

Sorry if I might be a bit offtopic.

Obviously I love the C5LP. They are great and I have owned many. I don't think they ever really caught on very well here but they did survive on the price sheet for over 10 years. Oh well maybe they sold better than I realize as they were around for over a decade?

What I think Gibson should have done was make the True Historic but then also offer the the guitar with the 2014 specs and give them the non historic CS serial number. This would still give the folks that don't want to spend the extra money for a TH a guitar with nearly the same specs but a better price point.

6500 Euro for an 1958 TH?
As someone mentioned before. They will be sold.........sometime!
The limited production numer will mean, that every country will have a small amount of them. And every country will have a small amount of people who are willing to pay the price.

This thread is about the CS line not the TH line. The TH already seems to be selling, at least here in the US.

Edit: Or do you mean the CS line will sell because of the TH price?

Most consumers in Europe don't get that it's not only an uncharge for the TH - it's also an uncharge caused by the currency conversion rate. Stores kept selling old inventory for 2014 prices and even lower. It's basically a very bad timing raising the prices that drastically. I'm sure someone will be able to buy a TH8 for less than 6K everywhere. Anyway... It's not a cheap guitar. But there will be customers for every TH offered in Europe for sure.

At first I wasn't sure about the "short tenon" CS standard as well but I believe you won't tell a huge difference in tone. In the end I'm sure they gonna be great guitars. I'm looking forward to check em out soon.

Uh, yes. Sorry. But I doubt that the CS will sell better.
They will be good guitars, but I wouldn`t consider to buy a CS. At that price point, without the long neck tenon I feel pranked. I own a R8`06, CR8`11 and a Std.+`02 and got them for a good price.
