Yes, the LPF has changed over the years. But what hasn't? Forums like this aren't 'things'. They're people...who share an interest or love for something we all have in common. To me the greatest change has been the way folks discuss Gibson guitars.
In my view it used to be more competitive between owners/fans of Gibson Standard vs Custom Shop, dealer exclusive models, limited run guitars, and all of the variants therein. Yes, some of that still gets talked about. However, now there seems to be more acceptance and a sense of calmness when members discuss their current favorite Gibson or whatever gear. Folks don't seem to get all 'hot and bothered' about owning the latest and greatest Custom Shop model that most closely resembles/copies the original from back in the day. Remember all of the chatter about truss rod condoms and hide glue?
I still enjoy hanging around the LPF. Maybe it is because I'VE aged and mellowed as well as many of our members. Most importantly, I still enjoy playing my small harem of Gibsons...(and other brand guitars) while chatting with members who have been here for so long.
Peace!
