Anyone own any Rock Star/Celebrity Owned and Played Instruments?

Not guitars, but I do have a couple pieces of gear. Both formerly owned by locals (Gainesville, Florida) who were/are in bands somewhat known nationally in the US.


I own this 1x12 Mos-Valve combo (below left) that was formerly owned by Charlie Hargrett of the Southern Rock band Blackfoot. I originally had a matching 1x12 extension cab (below right) as well (but sold it). Both are/were stenciled as shown in the pic of the extension cab.

And I have this beat up bass case that was owned by a bassist from the punk rcok band Against Me! Again, stenciled as such. (I know, it has other stencils too, but the seller specifically told me he'd gotten it from Against Me!, and, as he did not want any premium for the case based on provenance, had no reason to lie. Against Me! were based in Gainesville for many years and even opened for my band a couple decades ago. Of course, pre-fame.)

Come to think of it, the bass I keep in that case was formerly owned by one of the founding members of the sorta gothy-punk California band Neurosis, who became fairly big for that sort of thing. However, my friend Chad Salter left the band before they became famous. And I bought the bass from him before he was in Neurosis.

I own Brad Whitford's Mary Kaye Stratocaster. I'm a huge Aerosmith fan and contacted his guitar tech via Facebook on a long shot seeing if Brad would want to sell any of his guitars. To my amazement he wrote back, "sure, let me ask Brad." The next day he asked if I wanted Brad's Mary Kaye from 1988. Brad bought it in the 90's and toured the world with it. It was even featured on his Rig Rundown. Brad signed the back of the headstock and wrote me a cool letter to go with it. This happened a few months ago.

I just picked up a champagne sparkle crucianelli from a dude on reverb

super cool micro humbucker pickups. And a couple of autographs on the back.

The autographs weren’t mentioned on the listing, not in the pics.

So so I ask the seller and he says “oh yeah. Some dude from the fixx used to own it,” and then he tried to describe who the Fixx were.

I always liked the Fixx. But this “provenance” was completely accidental.

Doing a bit of research I stumbled across this thread. While I own a couple choice Les Pauls, nothing with the notoriety of a top household name. I did pick up an '87 Ibanez Ice-Stroyer owned by Paul Gilbert. Used on world tours, recording albums & magazine shoots with Racer X & Mr. Big. The pink is unreal & my camera can't bring it to life.

I bought this crucianelli off of reverb. No pics of the back, no mention of any signatures in the listing. When it arrived it had a couple autographs on it.

So I ask the seller... he says "oh yeah... it was owned by some guy in some 80's band. The Fixx?"

No idea who's autograph is was. It wore off pretty quick. :hee I Really like the Fixx but thought it was all kinda funny.
