• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

According to the owner this was the first Burst imported and sold in Canada. It is 100% original, including the original receipt from 1959, original case and even the keys for it! :##

Pretty.......and a pretty early one too.
Looked in BOTB and 9 0310 is a tobacco/darkburst so she doesn't fit with that run at all:2cool

Is it stamped "Made in U.S.A."? I don't see that on the back of the headstock. Canadian export Gibsons should have that.

Where did this issue up? Is it for sale? Or did somebody just send this to your website? Great pics

Was Gibson doing that in the late 50s? I've owned some mid-50s Les Pauls (purchased from Canada) - and they had the small "Made in the USA" stamp - but I have not seen that on later 50s models.

Julio's site shows these two on each side of 9-0307:

9 0303
9 0306
9 0307
9 0311
9 0314

That guitar is really bright colored. It looks like a 1960! :wow

If a '59 spent most of its life in the case - would the red still not be more vivid?

It would likely be more vivid than one that was not a case queen.

But, judging colors from photos is very difficult. If you have seen and handled many Bursts, inside and in the sun, you will know what I mean. :ganz

Don't the crumbled tuners support the idea that this one's been in the case for most of it's lifetime? I thought that the hypothesis is that the lacquer vapor causes/caused the deterioration of those knobs ...

I've never heard that. A possibility. :hmm
But, what I have heard is that the mix of the chemicals varies and the buttons shrink and disintegrate at different rates. I have seen buttons both shrinking and not shrinking, from about the same times.
And the keystone buttons do this a little differently than the oval buttons.

I was looking at a early 40s lap steel today with shrinking and crumbling buttons. This steel is covered in "mother-of-toilet seat" and no lacquer I believe.
