I told my wife that I wasn't buying any more guitars and she laughed and laughed...

That’s what I was wondering. He must be referring to a woman as there is always another guitar on the horizon.

Just a matter of perspective, perhaps a guitar... as there is always another woman on the horizon.

My fiancee complained. I sold three guitars but bought a 335 just before. One’s I sold were no great loss. Win win.
The only hard and fast rules I made at the very beginning of my current relationship went something like this:
I'm 48 and there are a couple things about me that are non-negotiable and will not change...I mess with guitars and motorcycles and play in bands.
They take time, but they make money.
I will not entertain complaints about this.
And if there are things that you like and find attractive about me now (like playing in a band), if you sour on them, I just don't want to hear about it.
Basically everything else is negotiable and I'm extremely benevolent and caring.
It's been good for 15 years and counting.

That's fair. I was in financial straits, and that was my only choice. So I sacrificed three, got my 335, and now we're both happy as Desmond and Molly Jones. I'm 63 with severe arthritis in my hands. i can't play in bands anymore, so anything superfluous needs to go.

After I unloaded 3 guitars to get the Red Dog Tele I told my wife I was done. She laughed. I laughed. Alexa laughed. Siri laughed. The Sweetwater app laughed...

Been there.
I've sold some great gear to pay bills when necessary.
That's the other side of tying up money.
I don't mind selling stuff.
It's just stuff.
