• Guys, we've spent considerable money converting the Les Paul Forum to this new XenForo platform, and we have ongoing monthly operating expenses. THE "DONATIONS" TAB IS NOW WORKING, AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE ANY DONATIONS YOU CAN MAKE TO KEEP THE LES PAUL FORUM GOING! Thank you!

I would like to apologize IF Ian is Ian and not Gareth.

Because that would make him a victim.

A strange one because he carefully chooses what to believe. In his own interest.

I will not take back anything I wrote about other parties implicated. If you venture into dealing vintage guitars, you need to have due diligence. If you don't know of are not sure, you get a second or third opinion. Same goes for the buyer, but selling without knowing what you sell is unforgivable. Short term thinking.
You can make a mistake once, but representing guitars as something they are not so often, isn't a coincidence anymore.

No wonder the UK gets such a bad rap in the vintage guitar circles with Muppet's like these floating about..
As long as people accept it and don't speak of it, there will be muppets.

Blimey, you internet warriors make me giggle....! No I am NOT Gareth! He's far uglier than me for a start! But he did broker the guitar on behalf of Elite Guitars (who incidentally have an amazing collection). In fact one of the pics of The Nile (!) I posted was taken in his living room when I bought it last November.... and against which I part-exchanged my Wine Red '79 Custom. So very sorry, but no conspiracy. Jeeez you guys crack me up..!! :rofl

Incidentally having spoken to Gareth (and his boss) this morning, some of you need to get deleting comments about certain of their guitars being 'fake'... unless you particularly fancy a day in Court defending a libel & defamation rap. Could cost you a lot of dosh in damages and Court fees. They're apparently consulting solicitors as I type....

ALERT....DAMAGE CONTROL....Your pathetic attempt to intimidate LPF members who have called you out for your fake '60 Burst. It's a common tactic to use threats of civil action when backed into a corner. Unfortunately for you, the threats ring hollow. First of all, no American is subject to British civil tort law last time I checked. Nor would an American be bound to respond to a court subpoena issued from a British court.

Your reputation here is forever tarnished by a mis-guided attempt to prop up a fake '60 Burst replica, and a poor one at that. Get out of town while you can. You're not wanted here! Scat! :hee:hank:fc

And a notable number of people consistently refusing to swallow this nonsense are from the UK.

I repeat, a notable number.

This has little to do where one is from, more where one is coming from.

Seriously!?! :wah

He is more of a Burst expert than anyone in this thread, except Vic perhaps.

Please state your "Burst credentials" that make you an "expert". I would sure like to hear this. :hmm

Tom, it's my understanding that Terry's a luthier, not a dealer or authenticator. Do I have that incorrect? If so, then I'll take it back, but regardless, his fictionalized narrative has no basis in fact.

As I've said, I've put my time in trying to forge these things. I've learned how to spot shit. I have also done restorations and refinishes that were not spotted by at least half a dozen respected vintage dealers in So Cal. I don't have to have yours or Vic's bonafides, but I know things about Gibson finishes that you may not know. I honestly don't know why you are staking your credibility behind this fugazi. Look at his truss rod pics again. Ask Terry what he thinks of that!

Seriously, I respect your history with these guitars, but I think you should trust your origin instinct. This guitar is wrong on so many levels.

That was what I was trying to say. but I'm not English... :rofl

But yes, I wouldn't know of any other country where people like the Harrisons could continue as if nothing has happened...
And the list gets longer...

It comes out exactly as intended. Any guitar that I worked on or made was represented as such when I sold it, and I make sure to leave my signature in the cavity (starting after my friend started passing off my '68 V refin as real, after he promised not to do so). I either do it only for myself or for friends a s favor, and because I'm OCDAHV. Simply as a point of pride, I have tried to learn how to do things indistinguishable from the originals, and have put the research and hours in. Blackguards still being my weak suit, but I'm working on it.

No sweat.

It ain't just Denmark that's rotten.

To single the Mother country out as the epicentre is disingenuous.

Now I understand the interest for the '56-'57 "white burst" a couple of minutes ago... :eek:la

I think Carson does a pretty good job with the blackguards... at least on picture

Speaking as someone who has dealt with the criminal and civil courts professionally for nearly 30 years I’m finding the OPs threats quite amusing.

With each additional post this thread turns more into all of of those similar ones that have come before it.

Still fun to watch though.

Some people you just can’t reach..

Man on a mission. By this time next week, we should expect to learn of multiple lawsuits filed against all of the British detractors.....?:dang

How much are you (they) seeking in monetary damages? Who will be your expert witness testifying in court?:ganz:ganz
